Journal 10: Chapter 23-24

One of the designers that really stood out to me from chapter 23 is He Jianping— the German-Chinese designer and artist that carries a beautiful contemporary aesthetic. His posters mainly stood out to me because they lack color. One of the difficulties I have faced personally designing is using color, staying “on-brand” and just trying to exert emphasis on certain aspects using color. With just black and white imagery, he uses a mix of subject matter and designs his compositions in a way to make his subjects really stand out- or to get his message across.

He Jianping is also a multi-faceted designer who touches several different aspects of design such as branding, posters, editorials, typeface and curation (http://hesign.com/) which is super inspirational to a designer that just loves to do everything. Going through his website and viewing each design is just like walking through a gallery of art for me, and a lot of his pieces are intriguing to look and analyze.
