Journal 3: Chapter 5-8
The Renaissance period and work produced during that time has always intrigued me, as both an artist and a creative— there are so many things to draw inspiration from.
In present day shows, films, and the genre of “ancient” times and in magic/sci-fi type of media we see a lot of different types of literature and artwork that are supposed to represent this period. I believe what drew me interested is seeing some of the illustrations and artwork that was done during this time period— the simple shapes and lines yet elaborate illustrations, the floral patterns and how each page is developed and laid out. An example of this are two pages in France’s Geoffroy Tory’s Book of Hours, which just looking at this book page to page, gives you an idea of the beautiful form, time and effort put into creating such a work of art.
